Vlad III was born November or December of 1431 and died December of 1476 or January of 1477, he was the prince of Wallachia and a member of the house of Drăculești, which was a branch of the known Romanian house, House of Basarab. He was given the name Vlad the Impaler for beliefs contrary to him drinking the blood of his enemies after impaling them with a stake.

He was the Voivode of Wallachia three times ruling mainly from 1456 to 1462 which was the period of the Ottoman conquest of the Balkans. His father was Vlad II Dracul who was a member of the Order of the Dragon which protected Christianity in Eastern Europe. Vlad III was a folk hero in Romania and Bulgaria for protection of Romanians and Bulgarians from the north and south of the Danube. He raided the Ottoman Empire with a ton of Bulgarian common folk and remaining boyars went north of the Danube to Wallachia and recognized his leadership.[1]

For him given the title "The Impaler", it is said that he practiced impaling enemies of his which was given to him as a historical reputation.[2] He had a reputation of cruelty during his lifetime towards the Holy Roman Empire and other places in Europe. This gave reason to the vampire Count Dracula novel by Bram Stoker in 1897 called Dracula which was inspired by Vlad's reputation for such.[2]
