Tutankhamun (born Tutankhaten, meaning Living image of Aten) was a pharaoh in the 18th dynasti. He was son of Akhenaten and one of Akhenatens sisters (inbreeding was normally in ancient egypt). Akhenatens wife was Nefertiti, and the got 6 daughers, including Meritaton and Ankhesenamun, who later became his wife. They had 2 daughers, both stillborn

Tutankhamun became pharaoh at the year 9-10, and died 10 years after (19-20). It is possibly that he was killed by Ay and Horemheb, who became the last pharaohs in the 18th dynasti. He was burried in Valley of the kings.

Tutankhamun became famous after he was found, because he had the first found tomb not robbed (KV62). He was discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. His body is now in Cairo.
