Should be 'Britain' throughout - England is a component of the UK. Jackiespeel (talk) 12:34, August 10, 2012 (UTC)

Actually Jackispeel, when 'Britain' began to colonize the Americas, they were just England and Ireland, Scotland was a seperate kingdom. When England's queen, Elizabeth I, died in 1603, her very distant cousin, James VI of Scotland was selected as the heir to England's throne since Elizabeth had no children whatsoever and the people she thought could succeed her had died, unfortunately. But Scotland and England, technically, were still two seperate kingdoms ruled by the same monarchy, the House of Stuart. This only officially changed when Queen Anne of Scotland and England, was able to get both the Parliament of Scotland and of England to agree to pass the Acts of Union in 1706 and 1707. And, besides, I said at the time, during Elizabeth I's reign. 67.175.44.83 02:00, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

Oh and, extra fact about the House of Stuart, they were the monarchy in charge when the English Civil War occured; even though they were ruled by the same monarchy, Scotland and England revealed a very strifeful relationship to each other when they fought against each other during the Second War of this 'English Civil War'.
