Neo– (from the Greek: νέος, neos meaning "young") is a prefix that is used with nouns, to emphasize the word's revival–in the sense of a revitalized movement that takes a newer form. It mixes modern versions of styles with ideologies or concepts that existed in the past, often becoming a modern form or development. In some settings it is a modification to the original, such as steampunk art which applies Neo-Victorianism. It can also denote a recent subdivision of a geological or historical period, such as Neo-Babylonian.
