Manual Operated (1922-1945)[]
School Bus stop arms were first introduced in 1922 and were originally Manual Operated. And the Blades from Manual operated stop arms were also reused on some air operated stop arms.

Air operated Stop arms were the first automatic stop arms and in 1965 the blades have changed from an actual blade to a stop sign. But air operated stop arms are still used on some school buses with air brakes.
