On March 30, 1981, Ronald Reagan Had only been President for 69 days.As Reagan exited The Washington Hilton Hotel through the "Presidents Walk".John Hinkley, Jr. (The Assassanator) waited in the crowd of admiers and at 2:27 Hinckley shot a blue steel revolver 6 times it hit James Brady in the head, second shot hit Police officer Thomas Delahanty in the back of the neck as he turned to protect Reagan,but the third shot missed the President and hit the building across the street, the fourth shot hit Timothy McCarthy in the abdomen when he stepped in front of the President, The fifth shot hit the bullet proof glass,and the sixth and final shot ricocheted off of the limousine and hit Reagan in his left under arm grazing a rib and lodging his lung, the bullet stopped 1 inch from his heart.
Alfred Antenucci saw the gun and hit Hinckley in the head pulling him to the ground, Then Dennis McCarthy doved on the shooter.
Then Ronald Reagan was taken to George Washington University Hospital and had surgery to remove the bullet.
